DAY 1: TAORMINA AREA
Arrival at Catania Airport. Transfer on request to the Taormina area, accommodation in hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in the Taormina area.
DAY 2: TAORMINA & CASTELMOLA
After breakfast, the Vespa tour begins! Your charming scooter will be delivered to your hotel. Hop on the Vespa and travel to discover Taormina "the Pearl of the Mediterranean" and visit it by crossing Corso Umberto, which represents the heart of the city where you can find splendid ancient buildings, including the 15th-century Palazzo Corvaja and the Greek-Roman theater, the 2nd largest classical theater in Sicily - Over the centuries, the city has always been a sought-after destination. From the Greek-Roman theater, you can admire the bay of Giardini Naxos, Mount Etna, and the Calabrian coast. Continue to Castelmola, another beautiful village overlooking Taormina and the bay of Giardini Naxos. There you will explore the streets, enjoying the breathtaking view of Etna. Time to visit the picturesque "Bar Turrisi," a "must" in Castelmola, where you can taste the famous "Almond Wine" accompanied by typical local biscuits. The tour will end with you enjoying the sunset from the panoramic square above the town. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
DAY 3: FORZA D'AGRO' & SAVOCA
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you can choose to visit the villages made famous by the movie The Godfather.
Suggested itinerary: Departure for Forza D'Agrò, a charming village located on a hill overlooking Taormina and the Ionian Sea. Walking along the narrow streets of this small town, besides breathtaking views, you can admire the Durazzesco arch and the Cathedral, the place chosen to set one of the most romantic scenes of The Godfather movie, Michael Corleone's wedding. From the panoramic square, you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the coast. After visiting this little gem, continue to Savoca, which was also the location of the famous film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The buildings and monuments featured in the film are real, such as the famous Bar Vitelli, the same bar used for the filming of The Godfather. Continue to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 4: ALCANTARA GORGES & FRANCAVILLA DI SICILIA
After breakfast, you can choose to visit the Alcantara Gorges and Francavilla di Sicilia.
Suggested itinerary: The Alcantara Gorges are a wonderful natural canyon of volcanic origin, where you can admire the majesty of the Alcantara river flowing between lava stone walls. The play of light and shadows on the steep walls of the gorges creates a world of illusions. The river water is always fresh. To descend into the gorge, you can take the stairs or an elevator (cost about €9 not included). The small beach area is great for dipping your feet, sunbathing, or if you want to dive, there are areas where the water is a bit deeper and you can jump in. Recommended clothing: swimsuit, beach towels. Continue to Francavilla di Sicilia, a very ancient village famous for its convent. We also recommend a stop at Linguaglossa before returning to the hotel. Return the Vespa, dinner and overnight stay.
