DAY 1: MARSALA
Arrival at Palermo airport. After picking up the rental car, visit Palermo and then drive to Marsala. Overnight at the hotel.
Suggested itinerary: Today we suggest visiting Palermo. Start with the Teatro Massimo, the third largest opera house in Europe. Then enter the popular market "Il Capo," which resembles an African souk; at the end of the market visit, taste the typical Sicilian "Arancina" in a bar, a local street food specialty. Continue the visit in the old part of the city with the Cathedral, the Royal Palace, and the Palatine Chapel. Proceed to Monreale, famous for its Cathedral with polychrome mosaics on a golden background, depicting scenes from the Old and New Testament. End the visit with the cloister. Continue to Marsala and overnight.
DAY 2: AGRIGENTO
Breakfast at the hotel. We suggest visiting Agrigento.
Suggested itinerary: Go to Agrigento where you can visit the Valley of the Temples, including the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concordia (one of the best-preserved Doric temples in the entire Greek world), the Temple of Hercules, and the Temple of Castor and Pollux. Return to Marsala. Overnight.
DAY 3: MARSALA, ERICE & SEGESTA
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we suggest visiting Marsala Stagnone, Erice, and Segesta.
Suggested itinerary: Go to Marsala, famous for its salt pans and wine production. Stop at the Stagnone Reserve, a magical place with a suggestive natural landscape of rare beauty due to its white salt pans with windmills. Continue driving to Erice, the medieval town on the top of Mount San Giuliano. Here you can admire the Norman Castle (outside) and the Cathedral. Meanwhile, we suggest stopping at a bakery to taste the typical almond paste of Erice. Continue to Segesta, one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in Sicily, where it is recommended to visit the Doric temple whose majestic appearance and dominant position give great nobility to the landscape. Return to Marsala. Overnight.
DAY 4: FAVIGNANA
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we suggest visiting the island of Favignana.
Suggested itinerary: Transfer to the port of Trapani/Marsala and departure by boat to Favignana, with its butterfly shape, it is a fantastic destination for beach and diving lovers. Board the adorable Egadilandia, a tourist train that tours the many streets and coastal roads of the island. Don't miss the former Florio Establishment (a canned tuna factory turned museum), the tiring walk will lead to the ruins of the Castle of Santa Caterina and the suggestive Lovers' Grotto. Return to Marsala and overnight.
