It takes 45 minutes to reach the opposite side. There are 13 km of sea between the two islands Corsica and Sardinia. Like most port cities, Bonifacio has a rich history. The ancient trading city founded between 823 and 833 by the Marquis of Tuscany consists of a "marina" district, the lower town, and the "upper town" which is situated on a promontory from which you can enjoy breathtaking views. On clear days you can see the Sardinian coast. The tourist train takes guests to the upper part where they will have a guided walking tour of about an hour. Take the return ferry at 3:30 pm to Santa Teresa. Return by car to your hotel. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: COSTA SMERALDA, PORTO CERVO & PORTO ROTONDO
- Breakfast at the hotel. Today you are free to relax and explore the surroundings, take a swim, or visit the Costa Smeralda.
- Suggested itinerary: We suggest starting your tour today with a visit to "Nuraghe la Prisgiona" in the municipality of Arzachena, one of the 7000 circular towers dating back to the Bronze Age. This megalithic culture is unique throughout the Mediterranean area and is one of the most important archaeological monuments of Sardinia. Afterwards, cross the magical mountain village of San Pantaleo, with its fascinating granite formations, to reach the Costa Smeralda. Continue to Baia Sardinia, one of the most sought-after destinations of the Costa Smeralda, thanks to its wonderful beaches. Along the scenic route of the Costa Smeralda you can then discover the numerous emerald-colored sandy bays that inspired the founder, Karim Aga Khan, to expand this coastal strip until it became the most famous and exclusive holiday paradise for jet-set tourism.
