Description
  • 8-day tour (7 nights) with hotel and rental car included to make the trip completely independent while discovering Lake Garda and Tuscany.
Itinerary

DAY 1: VERONA

  • Arrival at Verona airport. After picking up the rental car, head to Riva del Garda. No activities are planned for this day. Free time to explore the city on your own. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 2: LAKE GARDA (KM 160)

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Today you are free to relax and discover the city on your own, or we suggest taking a tour of the lake and admiring the most famous towns such as Desenzano, Sirmione, Malcesine, Limone, and Salò. Each of them has a different history and traditions dating back to before the Middle Ages.

  • Suggested itinerary: Drive to Sirmione to visit its famous Castle, continue to Desenzano to admire the Castle and the Roman Villa. Proceed to Salò to admire its lakeside promenade; then stop in Limone, famous for its lemon groves, and finally in Malcesine, another important tourist resort on the Verona side of Upper Lake Garda and a famous medieval village.

DAY 3: VERONA & PADUA (KM 240)

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Today you are free to relax and explore the beautiful towns in the Lake Garda area, or dedicate the day to visiting Verona and Padua.

  • Suggested itinerary: Reach Verona and park near Piazza Bra: you will immediately find the symbol of the city, the Verona Arena, one of the largest Roman amphitheaters still in existence. Continue along Via Mazzini and arrive at Piazza delle Erbe, one of the most characteristic squares in Verona: ancient houses with towers, arcades, and fountains, including the central one with a Roman statue and Juliet’s house. Continue the day by car to Padua and visit the Scrovegni Chapel with the Church of the Eremitani and the Picture Gallery. Together with the Sistine Chapel, two masterpieces that everyone should admire at least once in their lifetime. We also recommend visiting the Basilica of Saint Anthony. Return to the hotel in the Garda area. Overnight.

DAY 4: VENICE (KM 400)

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Today you are free to relax and explore the beautiful towns in the Lake Garda area, or dedicate the day to visiting Venice with your car or, as we suggest, by train.

  • Suggested itinerary: Reach Punta Sabbioni and from there take the boat to Venice. Begin your walking tour by exploring St. Mark’s Square before heading to the Basilica. From the terrace on the first floor you can admire the view over the lagoon and see the famous bronze horses up close. Afterwards you can reach the Doge’s Palace, once the residence of the ruler of the Republic of Venice. You can visit, among other things, the Hall of the Great Council and the courtrooms. Then cross the famous Bridge of Sighs that connects to the New Prisons. You can also see Santa Maria Formosa, San Giovanni e Paolo, Marco Polo’s house, and the famous Rialto area. Continue the day by visiting the Church of the Frari (which houses works by Titian, such as the splendid “Assumption”) or the Church of San Rocco ai Frari (with works by Tintoretto, including the large “Crucifixion”). Get ready to take beautiful photos. Return to the hotel in the Garda area. Overnight.

DAY 5: FLORENCE (KM 390)

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Montecatini. We suggest visiting Florence, one of the most spectacular art capitals in the world, home to one third of all Italy’s artistic treasures.
  • Suggested itinerary: Reach Florence and begin with a visit to Santa Croce, the largest Franciscan church in Italy, considered the burial place of the most important Italian figures in history, art, and literature. Equally imposing is Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria with the reproduction of Michelangelo’s David. We recommend visiting the Uffizi Gallery, the world-famous picture gallery, or strolling through the city streets and ending the day with a coffee in Piazza della Repubblica. Continue to Montecatini Terme. Overnight in Montecatini Terme.

DAY 6: SIENA & SAN GIMIGNANO (KM 256)

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Today you are free to relax or dedicate the day to visiting Siena and San Gimignano.
  • Suggested itinerary: Head to the Chianti area, which stretches between Siena and Florence, where one of the most famous wines, Chianti, is produced. Let yourself be enchanted by a magnificent landscape of hills, fields, vineyards, and olive groves. You can discover San Gimignano, whose towers are visible from afar. Worth seeing: the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, the Palazzo del Popolo with the Civic Museum, and Piazza della Cisterna with its splendid fountain. Continue to Siena. The medieval city of Siena is a work of art from the Gothic period. With its historic center and narrow streets paved with Siena clay bricks, the tall reddish-brown buildings, you will have the impression that time has stopped. The historic center, on its three hills united in the shape of three stars, is famous for its Palazzo Pubblico and the Torre del Mangia (88 meters high). From here you can enjoy a splendid view of the famous and beautiful Piazza del Campo. Overnight in Montecatini.

DAY 7: PISA & LUCCA (KM 260)

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Today you are free to relax or dedicate the day to visiting Pisa and Lucca.
  • Suggested itinerary: The Leaning Tower of Pisa has made it famous all over the world. During the visit you can admire Piazza dei Miracoli, the Cathedral, the Tower of Pisa, the Baptistery, and the Camposanto. The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is a masterpiece of Italian architecture. Inside the Baptistery you can visit the hexagonal pulpit by Nicola Pisano. Very special is the Cemetery, which has the shape of a monumental cloister. Reach Lucca and visit this splendid medieval city with the Guinigi Tower and the Clock Tower. From these points you can enjoy a splendid view over the rooftops of the Tuscan city, a panorama that allows you to appreciate its beauty and harmony, and to rediscover the same urban architecture built by the Romans. Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy. The Church of San Michele, also called the Foro, is the place where the center of Lucca once stood. Overnight in Montecatini Terme.
