DAY 1: MESSINA AREA
Arrival at Catania airport. After picking up the rental car, departure for the Messina area. No scheduled activities for this day. Free time to explore the city on your own. Dinner and overnight in Messina area.
DAY 2: LIPARI & VULCANO (excursion included)
Breakfast at the hotel. Head to the port of Milazzo, park the car and board the ferry for the day trip to Lipari and Vulcano. After sailing along the coast of the Capo Milazzo promontory, we will disembark at Lipari, the largest island of the beautiful Aeolian archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can visit the historic center of the island and its main attractions, namely the small archaeological museum of Castello, the cemetery, the 12th-century Norman cathedral dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, the archaeological park, strolling through the characteristic streets. Return to the port of Lipari and board the ferry to Vulcano, our second stop. Do not miss the visit to the black beaches, thermal springs, sulfur muds and, for those who want to do some trekking, we suggest climbing the crater. Return to Milazzo by ferry and head to the hotel for dinner. Overnight in Messina area.
DAY 3: PANAREA & STROMBOLI
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you are free to relax and explore the surroundings or take a swim on the beach or spend a day at Panarea and Stromboli.
Suggested itinerary: Head to the port of Milazzo, park your car and board the ferry for the day trip to Panarea and Stromboli. The first stop is Panarea, the "VIP" island. Walk through the characteristic streets of the village, swim in the crystal-clear waters and enjoy a few hours on the island. In about 45 minutes on foot or by taxi you can reach the small prehistoric village of Capo Milazzese, dating back to 1400 BC. Return to the port and board the ferry to Stromboli; during the journey you can admire the characteristic islands in front of Panarea. In the afternoon departure for Stromboli; during the transfer you can admire the group of islands in front of Panarea. Before our second stop, a sea visit to the picturesque village of Ginostra. After docking at the port of Stromboli Scari, visit the island until sunset, then departure to admire Stromboli erupting at night, especially the Sciara del Fuoco, where active lava flows. Return to Milazzo between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm, depending on sunset time. Ask the hotel to prepare a cold dinner so you can find it upon your return. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 4: MONTALBANO ELICONA & ARGIMUSCO MEGALITHS
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you are free to relax and explore the surroundings or take a swim on the beach or spend a day at Montalbano Elicona and the Argimusco Megaliths.
Suggested itinerary: Head inland to the wonderful village of Montalbano Elicona, awarded in 2015 as the most beautiful village in Italy. A maze of alleys leads to the castle, which dominates the historic center. You will be enchanted by the splendid views of lush greenery. Take a tour of the city in the most beautiful corners of the village. Stop for lunch in one of the many trattorias or farmhouses offering authentic Sicilian cuisine. In the afternoon drive to the Argimusco Megaliths. Here you can see the prehistoric megaliths (boulders) and at the same time enjoy a spectacular view of Etna, the Aeolian Islands, the curious mountains Rocca Salvatesta and Montagna di Vernà, Capo Tindari, Capo Calavà and Capo Milazzo. Return to the hotel in Messina for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: THE TOUR ENDS AFTER BREAKFAST
