  • The Old Farmhouse is a typical and extraordinary rural building, symbol and monument of peasant civilization dating back to 1856. Surrounded by 2000 hectares of woods in the archaeological natural park, on the Ganzaria Mountain, it has dominated the Gela Plain for almost 3 centuries. The unique historical complex, built in the heart of Sicily by Baron Guccione Andrea of Palermo, was constructed with local stones and materials, thus becoming a large farm or farmhouse, which offered accommodation to the peasants employed for the work and cultivation of the surrounding lands. Purchased in 1996 and expertly restored by the Golino Family, the Old Farmhouse regains its former splendor. The careful and meticulous restoration work began in 2000 and was completed in 2002. Eco-friendly materials were used for the restoration of the rural structure and the recovery of the lands, respecting the environment and its history. Inside, it features walls decorated with watercolor painting, stone, wood, Sicilian terracotta, ceramics, and wrought iron. Today, the Old Farmhouse, a 4-star rural historical monument, is entirely family-run.
