Included. Il Minareto is the only luxury resort in Sicily within the Plemmirio Marine Nature Reserve. Established in 2005, the Plemmirio marine protected area, on the eastern coast of Syracuse, extends for about 12 kilometers of coastline and covers 2,500 hectares of protected waters. The area is of great importance for its flora and fauna but also for its history. In the waters of Plemmirio, there are numerous pieces of ancient amphorae and artifacts from various eras, including some dating back to the last world war. These waters also host many marine species such as tuna, sea urchins, dolphins, and sperm whales, while along the shore there are interesting ridges of Mediterranean bio-structures that are a sort of miniature coral reef.
