Program
  • Start your day trip by boarding your air-conditioned coach at your hotel or a meeting point, then relax and enjoy the scenery during the 2.5-hour journey south across the island to Agrigento, a city on the southern coast of Sicily. Listen as your tour guide explains the history of Agrigento and the ancient Greek city of Akragas.
    During its heyday, Akragas was the most prosperous and important settlement on the island of Sicily, and today you can still see splendid remains of its past glory. Be enchanted by the beauty of the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a vast archaeological area containing well-preserved monuments of the ancient city. Pay the entrance fee (not included), then head inside for a guided tour of the site, admiring numerous temples including the famous Temple of Concordia, a perfectly preserved 5th-century structure, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Temple of Juno.
  • Admire the former theater used for the assembly of free citizens at the Ekklesiasterion, along with 3 sanctuaries and the necropolises of Montelusa, Moses, and Pezzino.
  • Continue to Piazza Armerina in the Erei Mountains and admire the famous Roman Villa del Casale, which has the finest collection of Roman polychrome mosaics, depicting hunting and recreational scenes, as well as mythological and historical episodes.
  • Board your coach and return to Taormina, where we will arrive in the late afternoon.
