1Saturday: Taormina Area

Arrive at Catania Airport at any time. After having collected your luggage, depart to your hotel in Taormina Area. On this day there are no planned activities, so check into our hotel (the rooms will be ready after 14:00) and enjoy the city. Free time to discover the surrounding of the hotel or to go for a swim on the beach on your own.

All customers who have booked an individual transport service, will meet our taxi driver at the airport arrivals with a sign displaying their name that will bring them to their hotel.

2Sunday: Taormina Area

Breakfast in the hotel. This day you are free to relax and explore the city or go for a swim on the beach on your own or opt to join our half day excursion Undiscovered Sicily.
Dinner and Overnight in hotel.


Departure to Castiglione di Sicilia, a small medieval town also known as the “wine city”, where we you can admire Its legendary castle, rich palaces and churches. “Cannizzu” – a lookout tower split in two after being hit by lightning – is really impressive. Santa Domenica’s Church is also worth a visit; it is a rare, valuable example of Byzantine domed building of the seventh century.
Then we discover Francavilla di Sicilia, a stunning town in the Alcantara valley, where a violent battle occurred between the Spaniards and Austrians in the 16th Century. Here we will also visit the Capucin Monastery (entrance fee not included), founded in the 16th Century.
After having tasted some local food and wine, we then head to the Alcantara Gorges (Gole dell’Alcantara). The water in the river is always cool, it attracts hundreds wishing to take a refreshing dip on hot summer days. To get down into the gorge you can either take the stairs or there is an elevator (entrance fee not included) that will whisk you down the 50 meters to the river. The small beach area is great for getting your feet wet, sunbathing, or if you desire to jump in there are areas you can dive in.
Reboard the coach at 15:30 and head back to the hotel.

3Monday: Etna and Taormina

Breakfast in the hotel and departure with the tour escort to the Mt. Etna, the highest peak of Sicily and the most active volcano in Europe. The territory surrounding the volcano constitutes the “Park of Etna”, one of the largest protected areas in Italy: You will be astonished about the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that we will meet along the way before arriving at the “Silvestri Craters” (about 1.900 mt). From here on you will have the option to continue the excursion by jeep and cableway (extra cost).
After having tasted some local Sicilian speciality, departure to Taormina. As you walk and discover the amazing town of Taormina, you will see beautiful old buildings, including the 15thcentury Palazzo Corvaja and an ancient Greek Roman theatre the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily (Admission fee is not included). Discover the medieval area of the town with its narrow strest and old shops.

Optional Activity: Etna Summit

On request and at extra cost, instead of spending three hours at leisure to trek independently around the foothills of Mount Etna, there is the possibility to get Mount Etna’s summit with cableway, jeep and alpine guide. Ride by cable car to a height of 8,202 feet (2,500 meters), and then travel the remaining distance by 4×4 jeep, stopping at a dizzying 9,843 feet (3,000 meters). Follow your alpine guide (*) carefully around the craters at Mount Etna’s summit, peering intohornitos (small openings that release lava), and learning about volcanic activity in Sicily. At the end of your walk, return to the base station via jeep and cable car to meet the rest of your group.

4Tuesday: Catania and Syracuse

Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Catania by Bus for a walking tour through the streets into Catania’s UNESCO-listed historical center with its Baroque palazzi and amazing monuments. Before hopping on the bus, visit of the open-air fish market, famous for its particular colors.
Continuation to Syracuse, one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island with its Archeological Park , the Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus, the Cave of the Cordari, Island of Ortigia, the most ancient nucleus of the city with its stunning cathedral. Tasting of Sicilian speciality. Entrance fees are not included Re-entry in hotel in the late  afternoon.

5Wednesday: Agrigento and Piazza Armerina

Breakfast in hotel. Meeting with your tour escort and departure to Piazza Armerina to visit the Villa Romana del Casale, famous for the most beautiful collection of late-Roman mosaics. After a short break for tasting some typical Sicilian food, we will procede to Agrigento where we will visit the Temples’ Valley, including the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concorde (one of the best preserved Doric temples in the whole Greek world), the Temple of Hercules , the Temple of Castor and Pollux. Reboard the coach and head to Palermo.

6Thursday: Marsala lagoon, Erice and Segesta

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Marsala, famous because of the salt works  and the production of wine. After a stop in The Riserva dello Stagnone, a magical place, with a striking natural landscape of rare beauty for its white salt pans with windmills, we will head to Erice, the medieval town on the summit of Monte San Giuliano. Here you can admire the Norman Castle (exterior) and the Cathedral. After a stop at a confectionery to taste the typical almond pastry of Erice, we will head to Segesta, one of the most beautiful archeological sites of Sicily, where we will visit the Doric temple whose majestic appearance and dominating position bestows great nobility to the landscape.
Re-board your coach and head back to Palermo where we will arrive in afternoon.

7Friday: Palermo and Monreale

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning visit of Palermo, the Royal Palace and Cathedral. Enjoy a walking tour of Sicily’s capital, teeming with impressive art and ruins, Byzantine buildings and Baroque churches. You will also visit Piazza Pretoria, The Martorana Church (from outside), “I Quattro canti”, Via Maqueda, Politeama Theatre (from outside). Continue to Teatro Massimo (from outside), the opera house. Stop for eating an Arancina, a sicilian speciality. Continue to Monreale, a lovely town on the slopes of Monte Caputo overlooking Palermo. Monreale was named for the once numerous citrus orchards that dotted the fertile La Conca d’Oro valley below. Walk with your guide to Monreale Cathedral, considered one of the finest Norman constructions in the world (Entrance fees not included).

8Saturday: Tour overs after breakfast

Today your trip comes to an end after breakfast. Check out at 10:00. Say goodbye to your fellow travellers and head back to Catania airport, or if you booked additional accommodation, you can enjoy an extended stay.


Rooms must be left before 10:00 am.
You can bring your baggage with you or you can leave it in the storage room of your hotel for free. On request and at extra charge, it is possible to keep the room until late afternoon.


You can opt book a individual transfer from the hotel to the airport.
All customers who have booked an individual transport service, will meet our taxi driver at the reception of the hotel. Information about pick-up time will be sent at the hotel by email, one or two days before departure

    We try to carry out the tour as in the programs but a change in emergency could be possible with alternative programs.

    The tour programs could undergo variations, with respect to what has been published, for reasons of technical or logistical orders, without however substantial changes to the program itself.

    Norma Vacanze is entitled to change the itinerary of the excursion if it considers it appropriate or due to force majeure.

    Norma Vacanze is not responsible for accidents, delays, damage or loss of luggage or personal belongings, nor for damages caused by third parties or others like floods, storms, landslides, earthquakes, political unrest, epidemy, terrorists attacks, strike.

    Early Booking Discount:

    Book before March 31 and you will get 5% discount on the tour price.

    What is a guaranteed departure?

    A guaranteed departure means that there is no minimum number of bookings required on a trip for it to run. So, if you book a that is a guaranteed departure, you’ll be heading off on the adventure of a lifetime.

    The safety of our travellers is our number one priority, so during the COVID-19 pandemic, some trips that are listed as guaranteed departures may need to be cancelled or rescheduled, if the destination is deemed unsuitable to travel to at this time.

    Cancellation Policy:

    Cancellations up to 15 days before departure with full refund.
    Cancellations from 14 to 8 days before departure, penalty of 30%
    Cancellations from 7 to 4 days before departure, penalty of 50%
    In case of cancellation within 3 days before departure, penalty of 100%
    There will be no refund for no shows or voluntary interruption of an already started trip.
